Description:

The 2019-2020 DAFI scholarship program under the Albert Einstein German Academic Refugee Initiative funded by the German government and administered by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) is now open for refugee students residing in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. 

The DAFI program offers scholarships for undergraduate refugee students that cover a wide range of expenses for academic study, from tuition fees and study materials to food, transportation, accommodation, and other allowances. To support their academic achievements and skill development, DAFI scholars receive additional support through close monitoring, academic preparatory and language classes based on students’ needs, as well as mentoring and networking opportunities.

Deadline: September 10, 2019 

Eligibility: 

– You are a refugee or asylum seeker in Iraq with valid refugee or asylum seeker certificate;

– You have completed your high school study with GPA (Grade Point Average) of 75% and higher, or
– You are already enrolled in one of the universities, having excellent academic results, and would like to benefit from the DAFI scholarship;
– You have your original documents and academic certificates (if you studied outside the Kurdistan Region of Iraq);
– You are between 17 and 25 years old; and
– You have not been selected for resettlement or family reunification process.
